Common questions
Is Scanly really free?
Yes. Scanning, offline OCR, barcode and QR reading, PDF annotation and merging, and every export are free and unlimited. AI Scan uses 1 credit per page and includes 10 free credits a month. You can earn 2 more at a time by watching a short ad — up to five a day. You also get 2 AI-designed PDFs a day. Pro raises the allowance to 700 credits and unlocks the professional tools.
What is Design a PDF?
Describe the document you want — an invoice, a CV, a report — or hand it a scan to lay out, and Scanly typesets it into a PDF. Your attached PDF or image is sent to the AI model so it can see the original layout and reuse portraits, logos, and illustrations. You can also add a separate photo. If something is wrong, say what to change and it redraws. Free accounts get 2 designs a day; on Pro each one costs about 4 AI credits of your monthly allowance. Pro can also point the designer at your own AI endpoint — your model writes the document, Scanly typesets it, and that costs one AI credit.
Does Scanly show ads?
Only if you ask for one. There are no banners and no interstitials anywhere in the app. The single ad is a rewarded video you start yourself to earn extra AI credits when you've used your free ones — ignore it and you'll never see an ad. Scanly Pro removes ads entirely; on Pro the ads SDK never even starts.
What happens to my documents?
Everything on-device — scanning, offline OCR, the PDF editor, your history — stays on your phone. When you run AI Scan or Translate, that document is sent over an encrypted connection for processing and the result comes back to your device. See the privacy policy for the details.
How does the license key work?
Your key is shown immediately after checkout. Enter it in Scanly's settings to unlock Pro on up to three devices. Removing the key from a device frees that slot for another one.
I lost my key — now what?
Open Scanly, sign in with the email address you paid with, and tap “Lost your key? Restore purchase” on the Pro screen. Your key comes straight back. If you paid with a different address from the one you signed in with, email salahdmitry@gmail.com. Your subscription itself is never lost — it lives with your payment, not with the key on your screen.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Cancel anytime from the Paddle billing portal linked in your receipt email — you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for. Refunds are handled per the refund policy.
