Acceptance of these terms
By using Scanly, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Eligibility
You must be able to form a binding contract where you live. If you are a minor, you may use Scanly only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
The service
Scanly is an Android document, barcode, and QR scanner with a built-in PDF editor. It provides unlimited on-device OCR, document layout and table recognition, cloud AI OCR powered by Mistral, PDF annotation, organization, signing and related editing tools, barcode and QR actions, translation, data extraction, document creation, and export to PDF, Word, Markdown, CSV, and JSON.
On-device features are free. The Free tier includes a small monthly cloud AI quota, which you may top up by watching optional rewarded ads. Scanly Pro includes a larger monthly quota, Office-file OCR, in-app translation, data extraction, document creation, a custom AI endpoint, and the Pro PDF tools (signing, signature validation, text editing, compression, and encryption).
Subscriptions and billing
Scanly Pro costs $6.99 per month and Scanly Max costs $14.99 per month, in US dollars. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled and may be subject to applicable taxes. Paddle processes all subscription payments as the merchant of record and reseller, so your purchase contract for the subscription is with Paddle. The contracting Paddle entity depends on where you are buying from and is named in the Paddle Checkout Buyer Terms.
Pro is unlocked with a license key, which may be activated on up to 3 devices. It includes 700 cloud AI credits per month, up to 300 pages per document, and uploads up to 30 MB. Max includes 1,500 cloud AI credits per month, up to 1,000 pages per document, and uploads up to 50 MB. AI Scan uses 1 credit per page; other cloud AI tools share this allowance. On-device OCR and barcode scanning remain free and unlimited.
Rewarded ads
On the Free tier you may watch an optional rewarded video to earn additional cloud AI credits. Watching is always your choice; Scanly shows no other advertising, and no ads are shown to Scanly Pro subscribers.
Credits are awarded only after Google AdMob confirms directly to our servers that the video was genuinely watched. The number of credits awarded per video and the number of videos honoured each day are set by us and may change at any time. Earned credits are promotional, not a purchase: they carry no cash value, expire with the monthly period in which they were earned, and are not refundable or transferable. Ad availability depends on Google's ad inventory and is not guaranteed.
Acceptable use
You must not use Scanly to process unlawful content or in a way that violates another person's rights. You must not attempt to bypass the license activation limit or usage quotas; falsify, automate, or otherwise manipulate rewarded ad impressions to obtain credits you did not earn; reverse-engineer or abuse the managed API; interfere with the service; or resell access to the managed API.
Your content
You retain all rights to your documents and results. When you submit content for managed processing, you grant Scanly only the limited, temporary license needed to transmit and process that content and return the result to you. Scanly does not claim ownership of your content.
Accuracy and responsible use
OCR, barcode, translation, and AI output may contain mistakes. The service and its output are provided “as is.” Do not rely on Scanly without human review where an error could cause harm, including medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, or other high-impact decisions.
Warranty disclaimer
To the extent permitted by law, Scanly makes no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of availability, accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Scanly will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, revenue, or business opportunities arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Termination
You may stop using Scanly and cancel a subscription at any time. Scanly may suspend or terminate access to the managed service if you materially violate these terms, abuse the service, or create a security or legal risk. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
Changes to the service or terms
We may change the service or these terms. Updated terms will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a material change affects an active paid service, we will provide reasonable notice where required.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Scanly operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live remain unaffected.
